Known as the "hottest place on earth", Death Valley is a unique environment. Although temps reach 130 degrees in the summer, winter weather ranges from 25 to 65 degrees.

These 16 shots are from a 3 day (Jan. 16 - 18, 1999) 23 mile solo backpack trip. Because of the complete lack of water in the area, I was forced to carry my own supply.  My pack weighed 70 lbs.  Destination was INDIAN PASS in THE FUNERAL MOUNTAINS.
